How to view Phone Usage History even when Apps are cleared from Recents

Here I share you the method to check what apps were opened while you were away! (Even if the person removed apps from recents)

Ever wondered that there is a secret place in Android where you can view all your phone logs or phone usage history even after it’s been swiped from Recents screen.

Here’s a story for you, Imagine you gave your phone to a friend to show some pictures. He returns your phone after some time and now you doubt whether he opened WhatsApp or any other app without your permission. You cannot see that in Recents screen as the app has been swiped/cleared.

Well, there’s a workaround to view complete phone app history from dialer app itself. Basically, it’s a Settings activity which gets triggered from Dialer only.

How to View Phone Usage Statistics (Android)

  1. Go to Phone Dialer app.
  2. Dial *#*#4636#*#*
  3. As soon as you tap on the last *, You’ll land on Phone Testing activity. Take a note that you don’t have to actually place a call or dial this number.
  4. From there, go to Usage Statistics.
  5. Click on Usage Time, Select “Last time used”.

Note: Some users have reported that this code doesn’t work on their device.

There you go. Here’re the complete phone app logs with usage time. There are even some apps which let you save the time of typing ##4636## everytime you wish to browse the usage history logs. This feature was possibly added in Android 1.5 Cupcake.

Being a developer, I know how these apps work. They have created an Intent to start Dialer app and dial the above number. Saves your efforts for dialing by occupying some storage space. Because there are people like this:
